All the Oktoberfests In IllinoisÂ
There is not one, not two, or three, but multiple Oktoberfests in Illinois; every event differs.
Belleville Oktoberfest, Illinois
Belleville Oktoberfest is a celebration of German heritage in the city center every year on the third weekend of September. The event highlights authentic German food, musical entertainment across three stages, and fun games and content (Wiener dog race & Costume Contest.) All three stages (German, community, and main stage) have different entertainment lines on all three days. Potato pancakes, bratwurst, and sauerkraut can all be enjoyed with a pint of cold German beer sponsored by Spatenbrau or wine. Carnival rides and fun activities booth make this event kid-friendly.Â

Oktoberfest Peoria, IllinoisÂ
The first Oktoberfest Peoria was organized by the German American Central Society and Peoria Park District in 1966. This event aimed to develop and enhance the quality of life in the Peoria community. The Oktoberfest event sponsor promoted all the traditional aspects of the Beerfest and Bavaria and stressed that attendees should wear traditional German tracht (authentic lederhosen for men and dirndl dress for women). The list of Oktoberfest Beerfest tunes is available on the event’s website and can be memorized using the link. The event has its own stage, while the Biergarten presents a separate show. Oktoberfest parade is the show’s highlight, followed by a Log Sawing contest, Weiner dog race, stein hoisting, and Musical lineup with a band specializing in German music.
